Muang On Cave, Chiang Mai.

Muang On Cave, Chiang Mai.

Many people love the nature and try seeking the beautiful nature sites to visit. These places are spreading everywhere in the world. Some might hide in the secret areas and wait till someone passes by and explore.  Caves would be one of the places in this kind of nature site that people love to see and explore. They are not the same in term of the area where they located. In Asia like in Thailand, caves are the places where the ancient people kept all treasures in for the new generations to find and preserve. Muang On cave that we are going to tell you the story is one of the local tourist attraction sites in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  30 kms. to the East side of Chiang Mai city area, located in Sankhampang District. There’s a legend tells among the local people that once when the Lord Buddha had travelled in this area and stopped by the cave for rest, meditation and teaching the Buddhism. He found the cave and spent his time there. In the cave, there was a Naga who lived there had disguised himself and offered the Lord Buddha fruits and honey when he spent his time there. When the Lord Buddha was going to leave the cave, the Naga had asked for the Lord Buddha’s hair to place in the cave for him to pay respect. The Naga had placed the Lord Buddha’s hair on the top of the stalagmite as seen in the present.  The local people found the cave again when Kru Ba Sriwichai, the famous monk of Lanna had spent his time meditation in the cave and found the relic of the Lord Buddha so that it has became the place for the people to show respect for the Lord Buddha since then.

On the way to visit Muang On Cave, you could also see wild monkeys which are rare to find in the northern area as mainly we usaully find them down south of Thailand more than in the northern part of Thailand.

Now a day, Muang On Cave is one of the tourist attractions as the unseen place to see and visit as it is located not too far from Chiang Mai city are and also after the cave you could also visit Sankampang  Hot Spring as well.  This could be one of the plan trip which could cover half day for you to go around if you prefer not to visit the crowded places, this is the best option for you.

Thailand ONLY

The roads split out in all direction from the center of the capital city of Thailand. If heading toward the eastern side it will lead to Kanchanaburi. There are a few trains per day going there, but the faster and easier way is by cheap minivan ride. There are a lot of accommodation options to choose. The town seems to host tourists for a long time so infrastructure and facilities are well set up. There is the tourist street lined with shops, restaurants, bars, massage parlors, etc. It is not as busy as Khaosan Road in Bangkok though, which can be even better for those who do not like too touristy, too loud, and too crowded places. The small night market close to the railway station is an interesting place to go shopping or simply check out things sold there.
