My Experience at Elephant Sanctuary and King Cobra Chiang Mai Show
On Thursday, 25 June, I had a chance to join a half-day trip to an Elephant Sanctuary, which was the same place I visited on my previous trip. This time, I went with P’Riw, the professional guide, and P’Eak, the owner of the company where I am doing my internship. This was my first time going on a trip with P’Eak because normally I usually go with P’Riw. Our clients were three ladies from America.

We drove the van to pick up our clients from their hotel. We met and greeted each other with a warm feeling before taking them into the van. During the journey, P’Riw introduced the background of the elephant sanctuary and gave an overview of Chiang Mai. However, I noticed that our guests seemed a little sleepy during the ride. After a while, P’Riw stopped talking and let the guests enjoy their own time.
After the trip, I asked P’Riw why he stopped explaining. He told me that he noticed the clients were a little sleepy and wanted to look outside the window and enjoy the scenery. That was why he adjusted the situation according to the client’s style. This was something I learned from him because I always thought that as a guide, we had to talk all the time and continuously provide information. However, professional guides need to understand their clients. Some clients may enjoy talking and learning new things, while others may prefer quiet moments and their own space.
