Visiting in Chiang Mai is one of the plan most visitors have in their mind as Chiang Mai is one of the most beautiful places and the most remarkable to visit. Whit its beautiful nature and sites, smiling local people, richof tradition as well as the delicious food.
First stepping into Chiang Mai Airport, visitors could feel the atmosphere of warm and welcome from the locals faces which is not too crowded as in Bangkok because Chiang Mai is smaller. However it’s still the biggest city in the north of Thailand. THere are manthings to see, to do and to explore. People here are nice, friendly with  big smiles, beautiful nature, rich of histories and full of fun activities. We could say that Chiang Mai has all you need to fulfill your holiday.
Today we are going to tell you about one of the small town north of Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao. Located 70 kms from Chiang Mai city. It is also located the 2nd highest mountain of Thailand, Doi Pha Hom Pok” as well as the 3rd highest mountains in Thaoland, Doi Luang Chiang Dao. As it is a small town, here you could find peace and clam, not busy and hectic as in the big city. In its town, you could visit Chiang Dao Cave where once it was the resting area whhere the Myanmar soldiers stopped their troops before attacking Chiang Mai. You could see the evidence of the Buddha images in the Burmese style left inside the cave. You could also see the stacmites and stalagties in the cave which you could try imagine what they look like. Not only the cave, you could also spend your time and spend over night in the local homestay behind the mountain for the local atmosphere. Walking trail to the waterfall, Enjoy loca meals and look up for the stars that fill up above on the sku by night. Wake up in the monring in the lovely atmosphere with the sound of the nature and birds. Explaining in the alphabets might not be the best unless you witness with your won eyes. Add this place, Chiang Dao on your travel list and see it with your own eyes.

Umong Temple, Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is well known as one of the city with many temples because every 10 to 20 meters when you walk in Chiang Mai city itself, you could find the temples line up along the roads. As for Thailand people mainly are Buddhist people. However many people when visit in Chiang Mai, they always target on the main city temples which are famous and well known in town. Our blog today is going to tell you about one of the unseen temple which located not to far from the old town. The temple called “ Umong Temple” ( Umong means the tunnel) located on the west side of the old town on the foot hill of Doi Suthep mountain. With the lovely atmosphere as it located in the forest area that  you could walk around. The temple was built in 1297 by King Mengrai. In the temple ground, you could find the Replica of Ashok Pillar as in India for the Buddhist to show the establishment of the Buddhism by the Lanna dynasty’s king, Phraya Mengrai. The main building you could visit and walk around are the bell shape pagoda with the lotus shape decorated on the top of the tunnel. This is very beautiful and peaceful area. This temple is also the place where the people could spend their time for meditation as well as. Beneath the pagoda, there is the tunnel with the Buddha images. Also walking in the deepest part of the tunnel, you could see the ancient mural painting on the ceiling of the tunnel. If you have a chance, visiting in the morning, you could also see the monks leave the temple for the alm offering and would return back to the temple before 8am for their breakfast and to continue their praying and meditation or leaning about the Buddhism for the monks’ routine.
